MATERNITY UNIT PRAISED FOR QUALITY OF CARE
April 19, 2012
A recent two-day assessment has commended the high quality of patient care provided at the Maternity Unit at Leighton Hospital.
In March, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT), which manages the hospital, was assessed against 50 Maternity standards set by the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST) to ensure that the care provided is of high quality.
The Trust scored highly in all of the necessary standards, including clinical care, high-risk conditions, post natal and newborn care. As a result, the Trust progressed from CNST Level One to Level Two accreditation, demonstrating improved care and safety for local mothers and their babies.
Speaking about the accreditation, Pam Cornwall, Head of Midwifery and Lead Nurse for MCHFT’s Women’s, Children’s and Sexual Health Division, said: “This is a tremendous achievement for us, and is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the maternity team here at Leighton Hospital.
“Our staff strive to provide excellent, safe care to families across the region, and with the current redevelopment of the unit taking place to further improve the quality of service offered, it is a very exciting time for both our staff and the families we care for.”
