Hospital Thanks Community for Patient Donations

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT), in partnership with Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, would like to say a huge thank you to the local community for the generous donations received over the recent festive period.

The Trust’s younger patients, based on the Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU) at Leighton Hospital, were provided with a number of toys, games and gifts thanks to donations by staff and customers of local companies and organisations, as well as individuals, including:

  • Sainsbury’s Nantwich, whose customers donated presents for the children;
  • Mecca Bingo Crewe, whose patrons also gave toys and games;
  • Crewe Alexandra FC, whose players visited the Unit to meet patients and donated presents on behalf of the club;
  • Nantwich Town FC, whose staff, players and supporters visited and donated gifts;
  • Barnaby’s Playbarn, who donated 130 chocolate selection boxes on behalf of their customers;
  • Emma Naylor and pupils of Offley Primary School, who donated a number of gifts for the children on CAU as well as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit;
  • Conviviality Retail, who provided a number of gifts that had been donated by staff members;
  • Dabbers Scooter Club, whose members bought and donated a number of presents for patients who attend the Paediatric Outpatients Department over the festive period.

Other patients in the hospital also benefitted from donations and activities such as ward-based parties, decorations made by the Sunday School pupils of West Street Christian Fellowship, a number of choir performances and gifts for each ward donated by the Nantwich Elim Church.

Laura Riddle, Charity Manager, said: “On behalf of our patients, their families and our staff, I’d like to thank everybody who has helped to make these donations possible – whether they are customers, employees, owners or supporters.

“Staff who were working over the festive period, as well as in the run up to it, ensured that all of the generous donations were used to benefit those patients who were in hospital recently and made sure that their hospital experience was as positive as possible.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported both the Trust and the Charity over the past 12 months – your donations, gifts and events, however big or small, really have made a difference and will continue to do so for years to come.”
