Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) is inviting patients, carers and Members to stand as a Governor in the recently opened Council of Governor elections.
The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, currently has three Governor vacancies.
One Governor is needed to represent patients and carers, while a further two are needed to represent areas of Cheshire – Congleton and surrounding areas, and Vale Royal, Cheshire West and Chester.
Governors help to fulfill a number of important roles, from representing the interests of the local community at Trust meetings to approving certain appointments to the Board of Directors.
Alison Lynch, Director of Nursing and Quality said: “Our Governors play a very important role in this organisation and provide us with crucial feedback from our community.
“To be a Governor, all you need is an interest in healthcare and your local hospital, and have the desire to represent your constituents as best you can.”
If you are a patient or carer, live in the Congleton area or in Vale Royal and the Cheshire West and Chester area, you can nominate yourself for the role by completing a short form.
Nominations are now open and will close at 5pm on Friday 29 July 2016. Voting will then take place during the last week of August and first week of September for contested posts.
