Bereavement

Service Information

The role of Bereavement Services is to ensure that staff, patients and their families receive a high standard of care and support prior to and following the death of a loved one.

Bereavement is an extremely emotional time in a person’s life. Therefore, by providing support and clear information to those who want it, our Bereavement Manager hopes to reduce some of the fears and anxieties faced at this time.

The Bereavement Services is currently available Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays). The Bereavement Manager, Vicky Towers, can be contacted on 01270 273882 / vicky.towers@mcht.nhs.uk.

Help and Advice

The days following bereavement can be very difficult, however, the formalities must be dealt with promptly. Should you require help, advice or information the Bereavement Manager will be available during this time. The Bereavement Manager, on your behalf can arrange an appointment with the Registry Office so that the death of your loved one can be registered promptly. 

Should you wish to make use of this service please ring Vicky Towers directly on 01270 273882. Alternatively, please ask the ward staff to bleep the Bereavement Manager on 3882.

Chapel Services

Everybody is welcome to come and join in worship, bible study and praise in the hospital chapel on Sundays 11.15am and Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm.

Location

The Bereavement Services office is located in the Chapel at Leighton Hospital (near to Ward 16 on the ground floor).
