Patient and Public Involvement (PPI)

Putting patients first is our priority

We want to make sure that we consider your views and meet your expectations.

Some of the best ideas come from patients and carers – after all, you are in an ideal position to tell us about the quality of our healthcare services.

As a patient or carer you may have different views from those of healthcare staff. Your involvement is important to help us make sure that our services meet your needs and concerns.

We need to learn from you, and by telling us what you think you can help us to improve our services and make them more ‘patient centred’.

How would you benefit:

  • You will know that you are helping to improve things for future patients
  • Hopefully you will enjoy being part of one of our hospital teams
  • We can’t pay you, but will pay you back your travel expenses

We will make sure we do our best to accommodate any special needs you have. Your involvement is entirely voluntary. You can tell us what you are willing, or not willing to do and how much time you can give us.

Here are the many ways for you, or close family members, to help improve your local health services for everyone:

  • Become a patient representative on one of our advisory working groups or committees which help to develop services
  • Take part in focus groups and share your experiences with other patients who have been through the same things
  • Give us your views on information we produce for patients
  • Take part in a seminar, open day or conference
  • Take part in a patient survey or questionnaire – your views really do count
  • Join our team of volunteers who provide valuable help and support to staff – contact Emma Clarke, Voluntary Service Manager, 01270 612311 (emma.clarke@mcht.nhs.uk).
  • Become a Member of the Trust.
