Physiotherapy services at MCHT are provided over both sites (Leighton Hospital, Crewe and Victoria Infirmary, Northwich).
Outpatient Services offer a direct booking facility to agree mutually convenient appointments for those patients referred by GP's, Consultants and other Healthcare professionals, within the local health economy. Referrals from outside the locality are accepted for those patients who reside or work within it.
Physiotherapy Outpatients services are offered in general outpatients, orthopaedic and rheumatology clinics and A&E.
The Outpatient services provided include:
Assessment & treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological and post operative conditions.
A wide variety of treatment modalities are available which are tailored to meet the individual needs of the patient.
In addition to this there is a hydrotherapy pool which incorporates aquatic based exercise, and an extensive gymnasium rehabilitation program.

Inpatient Services are available to patients whilst staying on a number of wards at Leighton and VIN. Patients maybe referred by Consultants, Doctors, Senior Nursing staff and Allied Health Professionals. At Leighton inpatient services include: paediatrics, orthopaedics, general surgery, medicals, neuro rehab, women’s health, mental health, ITU and Day Surgery. At VIN inpatient services include general rehabilitation on a 32 bedded ward is currently based on Ward 19 at Leighton Hospital.
Assessment and treatment is available for patients with a wide variety of needs including; respiratory, neurological, mobility, post op general and orthopaedic surgery rehab.
Physiotherapy Services are available between 8.00am - 5.00 m, although times may vary. Inpatient Physiotherapists are contactable using the bleep facility. On-call emergency respiratory physiotherapy is available at Leighton only, over a 24 hour period, 7 days a week for patients who fulfil the on call criteria.

The mission of the Physiotherapy Department is to prevent or minimise disability resulting from pain, disease, injury or congenital disorder and improve the level of function, performance and mobility through a co-ordinated and progressive rehabilitative service. It will provide high standards of health care agreeable to and meeting the needs of those it serves.
Closely integrated into the multi-disciplinary team, it continues to promote health education and independence by assessment and appropriate treatment in a suitable environment, thereby, maximising both short and long term potential.
Through the effective and efficient utilisation of available resources we are constantly seeking to improve standards and quality, yet are always mindful of the needs, dignity and sensitivities of the individual.

How to find the Physiotherapy Department at VIN:
From the main hospital driveway turn left on the top car park.
The Rehabilitation Unit (Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy) is located on the left hand side.
Entrance is via the automatic doors (with the blue surround).
How to find the Physiotherapy Department at Leighton:
From Smithy Lane turn into the entrance for car parks B and C. The Therapy Services entrance is adjacent to the Bus Stop which is located on the left hand side as you turn off Smithy Lane.
