We give you the information that you need so you can make informed choices about your care throughout pregnancy, labour and birth. We will always ask for your consent for any type of medical treatment, test or examination throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth. There is a temporary entrance for Labour Ward and induction of labour bays: On approaching the Pink Zone entrance, do not enter this way, and turn right, follow the path around the bend (towards the zebra crossings). Turn left into the signed temporary entrance.

All telephone numbers will remain the same during the relocations.

Conducting quality research is essential to providing evidence-based care with the aim to improve patient care. Leighton Hospital Maternity Unit has been a research active site for many years.

Midwives work jointly with the Trust’s Research and Development Team to encourage a research culture within the unit which promotes service development and provides the opportunity for women to participate in ethically approved studies. Research midwives and a Paediatric research nurse support the Women and Children’s Division, recruiting to a wide range of reproductive health and paediatric studies.

In addition to your normal hospital care you may be invited to take part in one of the many research studies currently being undertaken at the Trust.

Clinical research helps us to improve and develop the care that is given to women, their babies and children. This could be a drug trial, a screening study, a questionnaire or a combination of these and your participation is entirely voluntary.

We appreciate the help and support we have received from women and their families, both in the past and currently.

If you are interested in the current research we are undertaking, please visit the Research and Development page.
