Getting Involved In Clinical Research

As part of your normal hospital care you may be invited to take part in one of the many research studies currently being undertaken at the Trust.

What is clinical research?

Clinical research helps us understand how to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. This could be a drug trial, a screening study, a questionnaire or a combination of these and your participation is entirely vountary.

Why is clinical research important?

The primary aims are to;

  • Provide best evidence, treatment and advice for patients.

  • Increase understanding about the human mind and body in health and disease to support effective prevention and protection to the public.

  • Share knowledge and learning.

  • Improve patient care.

  • Offer treatment choice and additional benefits.

Do I have to take part?

It is entirely up to you whether or not to take part and your care will not be affected if you decide not to take part.

How can I find out more information?

If you would like to know more about getting involved in any clinical research in our area, please contact the Clinical Effectiveness team who are based at Leighton Hospital, MCHFT Research & Development, Middlewich Road, Crewe CW1 4QJ.
