Associate Foundation Programme Director

Mr David Machin, Associate Foundation Programme Director

Mr Machin is a consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is a trainer to a Foot and Ankle Fellow, an orthopaedic higher surgical trainee (Registrar) and clinical supervisor to an SHO level junior doctor.

He is currently the joint lead for orthopaedic trauma at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the associate director of the training program for foundation doctors within the Trust.

Mr Machin concluded his orthopaedic training in an internationally recognised higher surgical training fellowship at Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, during this fellowship he received advanced training in the management of complex elective, revision and trauma foot and ankle conditions. 

Prior to this he completed six years of specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery, rotating through many of the local hospitals, including the regional trauma centres. This followed on from his core surgical training after qualifying with Honours from The University of Liverpool School of Medicine in 2003.
