Here at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we recognise our role and responsibility as an employer and provider of healthcare services in our community to take action to help eradicate racism in all its forms, wherever it exists.
The Trust has committed to becoming an anti-racist organisation, a journey that has begun with senior leaders working in conjunction with our Cultural Diversity Network to develop an anti-racism statement. Underpinning this statement however is a broader commitment to develop our collective understanding of racism, the hurt it creates, the damage it does to health outcomes for our patients, and the sense of belonging colleagues feel at work.
Activity is already underway to make anti-racism mission critical, with training sessions on anti-racism taking place as part of the wider values and behaviours activity with more to come. Colleagues can also expect to see and hear more about the importance of allyship in the context of tackling racism, learn more around the difference between being ‘not racist’ and anti-racist, how to ensure incidents are reported and colleagues and patients impacted by such incidents are supported.
For now, if you would like to read and hear more about this commitment, you can find our statement below.
