In May 2023 the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced that the RAAC hospitals were to be prioritised in the national New Hospitals Programme and we are to have a new Leighton Hospital. We are beginning to finalise our plans to develop a world-class health and care campus for our local community.
Our Healthier Futures progamme will create a new site that will deliver first-rate care for patients – transforming health outcomes and addressing health inequality for our local population.
We understand our communities, the population we serve and the people who work for us. Like our system partners, we understand Crewe will thrive when its residents have good homes, places to exercise and good access to appropriate health and care.
We won’t just focus on the needs of people when they’re ill, we’ll look at how we can support people to stay well, have good mental health and feel confident to make the right choices about their health and wellbeing.
We will look at the needs of our communities now as well as plan for the needs of our future generations.
This is an opportunity for us to locally evolve the national workforce strategy to understand and respond to the question of where people want to work, making the New Leighton Campus a workplace and location of choice.
Our people promise will look at the important factors around job and career choice, giving consideration to aspects such as accommodation, public transport and flexibility of access.
Our New Leighton Campus is a once in a generation opportunity to transform health and care in Mid Cheshire, providing Healthier Futures for all.
