This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the Board of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust into the future and influence the quality of services provided to a patient population of more than 300k.
The incumbent Chairman, Dennis Dunn MBE JP DL, is leaving the Trust to become High Sheriff of Cheshire for 2023-24, an honorary and ancient role supporting the Crown and the judiciary as well as supporting crime prevention agencies, the emergency services and the voluntary sector. This follows a decade of commitment to the Trust in roles as foundation trust Governor and non-executive director before being appointed Chair of the Trust Board.
The Trust comprises: Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, in addition to a comprehensive community service through the Central Cheshire Integrated Community Partnership.
More than 5,100 members of staff deliver the highest standards of care across 500+ hospital beds with a range of planned and unplanned care services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children’s health. The Trust has recently been awarded funding to develop a Cheshire Elective Hub at Victoria Infirmary which follows the successful creation of a new community diagnostics centre on the same site. Meanwhile Leighton Hospital is one of the five ‘at risk’ RAAC hospitals (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) and has been identified for redevelopment as part of the Government’s new hospitals programme.
An outstanding candidate is sought, who will be able to bring an independent perspective, support and challenge to help shape what is a very bright future for the organisation. A respected ambassador with an established, board-level career and significant experience of partnership working, the successful individual will play a key role in leading the organisation and within the evolving integrated care arrangements in Cheshire and Merseyside and beyond.
Whether an existing or aspiring Chair; values driven leadership, a collegiate approach and genuine commitment to patients and population health are essential, alongside the capability to lead the board in an organisation of scale and complexity.
As an organisation that embraces diversity and treats everyone with understanding, dignity and compassion, equality of opportunity is a fundamental principle and applications are therefore encouraged from candidates of all backgrounds.
