In the lead up to Leighton’s 50th anniversary the Trust launched a Design the 50th Birthday Cake competition aimed at encouraging youngsters across Cheshire to get involved with their local hospital.
Nearly 200 children between the ages of 3 and 11 entered and Sam West, aged 3, William Minshull, aged 11, Daisy Johnson, aged 9, took the top three prizes. Senior nurse leads, Sian Axon, Laura Egerton and Laura McVeigh awarded prizes to the winners on the afternoon of the 50th anniversary at Wimboldsley Community Primary in Middlewich.
‘It was really hard to pick the winners,’ commented Laura Egerton. ‘So much time and effort had gone into producing fantastic designs. We would like to thank everyone who took part and to our local schools for supporting us. We’re looking forward to doing more activities in the future – just get in touch with us if you would like to have fun whilst supporting your local hospital.’
