Hello

I’m Charl and I am Leighton Hospital’s Colorectal Scheduler.

I have worked for the NHS for over 5 years, from a GP practice, then moving to the bowel screening department at the hospital. I was then lucky enough to be offered a secondment with the General Surgery team as the hospital’s Colorectal Scheduler. I thoroughly enjoyed this role and learnt so much, even going down to watch an operation. From this job, I had a small stint working with the colorectal nurses who I work alongside daily, as a Colorectal Cancer Support Worker, I was there to help triage patients who may possible have bowel cancer or that a patient has been referred by their GP for the team to arrange investigations due to the symptoms they have. This was an interesting role for me as I got to see what happened at the start of the patients journey and help them while waiting for results.

Now I’m back to scheduling patients colorectal procedures. Which is a very challenging role, but very rewarding.
