The Paediatric Physiotherapy Service provides targeted and specialist intervention for babies, children, and young people from birth to 16 years of age.
The service aims to assist children to achieve their maximum physical and functional potential by working alongside children, their families, and members of the multidisciplinary teams.
Our Locations
Children will be seen in a location suitable for their needs and the intervention required. This includes input into special schools.
Our Physiotherapists work within the following locations:
- Therapy Centre, Hebden Green School, Woodford Lane West, Winsford
- Weaverham Clinic, Northwich
- The Willows, Ashfields Primary Care Centre, Sandbach
- Eagle Bridge Health & Wellbeing Centre, Crewe.
We also operate within special school environments at:
- Hebden Green School, Winsford
- Russett School, Weaverham, Northwich
- Springfield School, Crewe.
Referrals to Paediatric Physiotherapy
Essential criteria for acceptance of referral:
- Referrals are only accepted from health professionals.
- Children/young people who are registered with a GP within the South and Vale Royal clinical commissioning areas are eligible for referral.
- Children/young people aged 0-16.
Referrals will be accepted for Paediatric Physiotherapy for children/young people with:
- Neurological, neuromuscular or genetic conditions that affect function and mobility
- Difficulties achieving their physical developmental milestones
- Positional talipes
- Obstetric Brachial Plexus Palsy
- Torticollis
- Musculoskeletal issues in children over 10 years old (for children over 10 years old please refer to the adult physiotherapy service)
- Symptomatic hypermobility
- Gait anomalies including toe walking and asymmetrical in-toeing
If a Physiotherapy referral is appropriate, please complete and submit this referral form (this will automatically download as a Word document when clicked).
All referrals are sent to the Therapy Booking Centre at Infinity House, Crewe. From here they are processed and uploaded ready to be triaged and prioritised.
For transfer of care referrals from other community therapists or discharging hospital therapists, please contact the Therapy Centre on 01606 704640 to discuss the referral. A separate referral form can then be emailed upon request.
