Diabetes in Pregnancy
This information has been put together to help you manage your diabetes during pregnancy. Your care will be provided by a team of clinicians which may include a Consultant Diabetologist, Consultant Obstetrician, Diabetes Specialist Midwife, Diabetes Specialist Nurse and Dietitian.
Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes
If you already have diabetes prior to pregnancy, it is important that you access care as early as possible in your pregnancy. This is to ensure that we can make an assessment of how well controlled your diabetes is and make changes to your treatment if necessary.

If you have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes following a Glucose Tolerance Test or blood glucose monitoring you will probably have lots of questions.

If you have not received a copy of the Gestational Diabetes guide, copies are available in Antenatal Clinic or you can order one from the website.
Our dietitians will also provide you with advice about your diet and offer virtual sessions about dietary management of Gestational Diabetes, implications of Gestational Diabetes, what happens after pregnancy, hints and tips for food swaps and physical activity.
