Driving in the UK

Due to the rural location of the hospital you may be considering driving as public transport links to the hospital cannot be relied upon to get you to and from the hospital outside of normal office hours (9:00 – 17:00). If you haven’t driven in the UK before here is some advice

  •  You must have a valid driving license and UK insurance before driving anything.

  • You must understand the UK Highways Code before driving in the UK.

  • Traffic in the UK drives on the left hand side of the road.

  • You must be 17 years old to drive a car or motorbike in the UK.

  • Crash helmets must be worn on motorcycles unless you are a Sikh and wear a turban.

  • Your vehicle must have a valid tax disc which must be displayed and a valid MOT certificate.

  • You must wear a seatbelt

  • It is your responsibility to ensure passengers under 14 are in the appropriate seat for their height
